MATCHSTICK.CLUB
Light a match. Waste your time. Call it a skill.
PLAYHow to play
Swipe to strike a match, then keep it alight for as long as you can.
Drag left or right to tilt the match. Upright, the flame starves. Tipped over, it feeds. It gets hungrier as it burns, so keep leaning in, but swing too hard and you will blow it out.
Your score is how long the flame lasts.
About
A game about burning matches. You were told not to play with them, so we added a leaderboard.
Your best times go on public boards for today, this week and all time, under a name of up to eight letters.

Privacy policy
Last updated 29 September 2026
This policy covers the game at matchstick.club. It is run by Kallio Labs, based in Finland (“we”, “us”). If you have any question about it, or want to use any of the rights below, write to us at contact@kalliolabs.com.
In short: there are no accounts, we never ask who you are, and the only thing anyone else can see is the name and time you put on the boards.
The leaderboards
When a run earns a place, the game asks for a name. If you give one (or let the game make one up), we store that name, your best time and when you set it, on public boards for the day, the week and all time. Anyone who plays can see them.
Each entry is kept under a random ID rather than anything that identifies you. The name is whatever you choose to type, so please don’t use your real name if you would rather not.
Anonymous sign-in
So that only you can update your own entry, the game signs in to Google Firebase Authentication anonymously. This creates a random ID with no email, password or other account behind it. A sign-in token is kept in your browser so you keep the same ID next time.
What is kept on your device
The game saves a few things in your browser’s storage: your best time, the name you chose, whether the music is on, which tip was shown last, the sign-in token, and a random ID for this browser. It also keeps a copy of the game’s files there so it loads faster next time. None of this leaves your device except the sign-in, your leaderboard entry and the play counts described below. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes all of it.
Visit statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
Play statistics
To see how the game is played, we count games under the same random ID the leaderboards use: how many games you played and on which days, how long they lasted, your best time, the game’s language, whether you play on a phone or a computer, the time zone your device is set to (which we use to estimate your country, without looking up your IP address), how you first found the game: the app or site that linked here, or a campaign tag in the link, and how often you tap the share button and whether the share went through (never what you shared, or with whom). These counts are stored in Google Firebase in the EU and are seen only by us, as totals. They are not used for advertising and no cookies are involved.
Error reports
If something goes wrong in the game, it sends us a short report so we can fix it: the error itself, where in the game it happened, whether you were on a phone or a computer, your browser's description of itself (its name, version and operating system), the game's language, and how long the page had been open. Reports are stored in Google Firebase in the EU, are seen only by us, and are deleted once the problem is dealt with. They carry no name, email or IP address.
Hosting
The site is served by Vercel. Like any web host, its servers process technical details such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver the page and keep it secure.
Advertising
We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads on this site.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, and out of other vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
- How Google uses this information is explained on its page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for ads, and you can change your choice at any time.
Why we use it
We run the boards, the sign-in, hosting, and visit and play statistics because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the game working, fair and secure (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Advertising cookies are used only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
Who else handles it
Google (Firebase and AdSense) and Vercel process this data for us. Some of it may be handled outside the EU, for example in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long it is kept
Board entries and play counts are kept for as long as the game runs. Ask us and we will remove yours; tell us the name and roughly when you played so we can find it. What is stored on your device stays until you clear it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Finland that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman, at tietosuoja.fi.
Children
The game is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date at the top.
